About Bach Flower Remedies
Created by GP Dr. Edward Bach in the 1930s, Bach Flower Remedies are a system of 38 natural remedies derived directly from plants and flowers. After having major surgery Dr Bach used homeopathic medicine to get well, and over time he found himself in better health than ever.
The trailblazer then spent years rigorously preparing and testing thousands of flowers and plants, discovering which helped with specific mental states or emotions. Eventually Dr Bach settled on the 38 flower remedies which are used across the globe today.
These include:
- Mimulus helps with fears of known things (e.g. spiders, public speaking)
- Cherry Plum for extreme anxiety and the fear of losing control
- White Chestnut for people who struggle with persistent, unwanted thoughts or mental chatter that can lead to worry and sleep problems
Bach Flower Remedies are 100% natural, completely safe for all ages, including adults, children and pets and don't cause any side effects. They can be taken alongside prescription medicine and work really well in conjunction with traditional acupuncture.
How do they work?
Bach Flower Remedies work on an emotional level by helping to shift negative emotional patterns to more positive ones.
It's well known that all plants contain a unique chemical cocktail that in many cases has a nutritional or medicinal property. Today, around 11% of the drugs considered 'basic' and 'essential' by the World Health Organisation originated in flowering plants. For example opioids are made from the poppy plant, whilst snowdrop bulbs are being used in medicine slowing the progression of Alzheimer's Disease.
